If Conditional Sentences Type 2

Type 2
This type is a conditional sentence which is used when the result/consequence of the condition does not have or is only a litlle bit likely to be realized because the condition is not likely to be met in the present (present unreal situation) or the condition is difficult to meet in the future (unlikely to happen).

Use of Type 2 Conditional Sentences
This type describes a condition that may occur but it is very unlikely that these conditions can be met. In this supposition, it also refers to the present state (Present). An activity that will occur if the present situation is different.

Form of Type 2 Conditional Sentences
The conditional clause (if  + condition) uses the simple past tense, while the main clause (result) section uses the modal verb and the bare infinitive (the infinitive without to). If-clause can be at the beginning or middle of a sentence. When if-clause takes place at the beginning of the sentence, a comma is placed before the main clause. If ... not can be replaced by unless.

Form : if + simple past/were, would /could/might + bare infinitive.
