Explanation text

 


Explanation text is a type of English text that contains how or why something happened.

Generally, this type of text describes the process of something happening. The things described in the explanatory text are in the form of natural and social phenomena.

Generic Structure of Explanation Text

There are two parts to the Explanation Text, namely:

  • General Statement

Contains general information on topics to be discussed in the text.

  • Explanation

Contains a series of events (sequence of events) from a process which is the topic of the text.

  • Closing

The closing or closing part is optional or does not have to be in this text. This section may contain additional information or the author's opinion on the topics discussed.

       1. DEFINITION     There's two 'voices' of verbs, the first one is Active Voice and the Second one is Passive Voice. But in this article we only learn about passive voice.      The passive voice is a grammatical construction. The easiest way to explain it is by contrasting it with the active voice. The active voice is the standard English sentence structure. With passive voice, the subject is acted upon by the verb. For example:  Active: Leonardo Da Vinci painted the Mona Lisa. Passive: The Mona Lisa was painted by Leonardo Da Vinci.      2.
